Weathering the Storm

We had a couple of storms in the Albuquerque area - wind and rain - while we are in Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a family reunion. Connie, our horse caretaker said our swing blew over, our gong was blown down and our ristras were blown apart.

She said Morgunn was in his stall waiting for his grain, but Gletta was out in the wind with her tail to the wind and her nose down. Connie had to go out into the rain to bring her in. Both horses were OK.

The only good thing is we need the rain and the forecast is for more.

Basic Information

My horse, Morgunn (Icelandic for 'morning'), is a 7-year old Icelandic Horse gelding. He was born and raised in Corrales, New Mexico where we live. He was trained by Fernando DeLeon, a gaited horse trainer located in Corrales. Morgunn is a chestnut dun.

Betty's horse, Gletta (Icelandic for 'prank'), is a 25-year old Icelandic Horse mare. She was born in Iceland and was brought to the US when she was 8. She first lived in upstate New York and then went to Colorado. From there she was in Spanish Forks, Utah and that's where we bought her. Gletta is a brown, almost grulla, dun.

Both horses are five gaited - walk, trot, tolt, canter, flying pace.

Both horses have been with us since September 1, 2005.
